Startup Nation, Meet Miranda Palmer & Kelly Higdon!

The Insurance Illusion: Real Talk About Private Practice & InsuranceMiranda Palmer is a therapist who started business coaching at the request of friends and colleagues who saw her flourish in building a cash-pay private practice during the recession in one of the top 3 worst cities in the country. She has been named as Best Private Practice Consultant in the past, and the Business School Bootcamp she co-created with Kelly gets rave reviews! In her off time she loves to challenge herself and you might find her doing AcroYoga, running an ultra trail marathon, or getting muddy during a Spartan Race!

Kelly Higdon is a psychotherapist turned business coach who loves helping people create businesses with ease and in a way that makes for a happier life. She is the co-founder of ZynnyMe and the co-creator of the Business School Bootcamp for Therapists, one of the largest online business training programs for mental health professionals. When she isn’t working, you can find her playing roller derby, rocking out at concerts or playing a fierce game of tag with her kiddo and husband.

Show Notes:

  1. Taking insurance is a simple business decision. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t.
  2. Create a business plan, vision, and know your numbers BEFORE approaching insurance panels.
  3. Sign on to panels only if they are a good fit for you and your business.
  4. There are many other ways to give back to your community or work with those who are marginalized aside from being paneled.
